Nai nai the night away for Reb ShlomoPopular music, Jazz A Jerusalemite Pick Binyanei Hauma - Jerusalem International Convention Center Zalman Shazar St. 1 City Entrance 02-623-0032 www.iccjer.co.il November 22 2008 20:00 NIS 60It's been over 14 years since Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach sang his last niggun, but the fervor behind his music and spirituality is still well alive. The spirit isn’t just confined to his Moshav, Mevo Modi'im or his namesake synagogue on the Upper West Side, as hundreds of congregations paying homage to his music and the soulful-ness behind it have sprouted up everywhere from Givat Shmuel and Nachlaot to U.S. college campuses and other places worldwide. Those known best for keeping his music going, among them Chaim Dovid Saracik, Aaron Rahzel, Yehuda Katz and Bentzion Solomon & Sons - among others - will give a memorial concert at Binyanie Ha'Uma, presumably still cleaning up from the UJC GA. There will be plenty of niggunim, dancing, chants of nai nai and generally Jewish jam bandery, enough to sate even the holiest brothers and sisters.
