Boaz Sharabi: BreathePopular music A Jerusalemite Pick Jerusalem Theatre Marcus St. 20 Yemin Moshe/Talbieh 02-560-5755 www.jerusalem-theatre.co.il July 12 2008 21:30
There's no keeping those Yemenite Israelis down; between the deeply cleft cheekbones of Mizrachi Elvis Zohar Argov, the ringing harmonics of Ofra Haza and the mad eclecticism of Boaz Sharabi, they've essentially conquered Israeli music. To call Sharabi merely a pop star would be to do him an injustice, to overlook the sheer magnitude of his contribution to Israeli pop culture; he's a multi-instrumentalist, a singer of both pop and classical styles, a composer, a poet, an actor and more. Now he's on tour in support of his recent album Breathe, playing new songs and his universally-known (in Israel) classic hits.
