But the film industry was always there – lurking in the background –and this spring, in honor of Israel's 60th birthday, Beit Avi Chai is presenting 'Fact and Fiction: 60 Years: Israeli Film and Filmmakers.' With topics ranging from Jerusalem: Living in a Society Under Siege to Within the Family: The Religious-Secular Gap, this English-language lecture series, moderated by Amy Kronish, and featuring directors including Ra'anan Alexandrowicz (James' Journey to Jerusalem) and Dan Wolman (Hide and Seek), traces the issues that have obsessed Israeli society from its inception through today. The five part series takes place on May 5, May 19, June 12, June 19 and July 3.
