Little Buddy Bears for the kidsby michael • August 29 2007
Things to do, Art, For the kids, Municipal news
The Buddy Bears are gone, having survived August in the Middle East and the notorious rambunctiousness of Israeli children, and have been sent on their way to spread ursine good cheer and understanding to another conflict-stricken corner of the world.
But the Buddy Bear activities are not quite over.
Jerusalemites and visitors with young children may want to drop by Kikkar Safra, former home of the Bears, between the hours of 3 PM to 7 PM from today until the 30th (10 AM until 2 PM on the 31st) to participate in a free municipality-sponsored children's activity: the construction of more manageably-sized versions of Buddy Bears, an event titled, with Zen-like focus, "Children Making Bears." Inspired by the example of the actual Bears, each painted in a uniquely striking fashion by dozens of international artists, children can make their own paint-based paean to peace and understanding using a bear as their palette.
The event is free.
